Life on easy street
I am an electronics technician so can only give a general opinion There is an advert quoting an average salary of $89k for I.T workers but i would take that to meen some one with several years experince. I would say a more realistic wage for your experience $45 to $60k starting salary have a look at this web site http://mycareer.com.au/jobseeker/search/results.aspx?s=101&l=4&c=3&sm=1 I am sure there is an IT worker whom can give you are more acurate figure. alanblockley
Hey there! I'm moving over in June, i'm 26 also and I'm moving to Brissie. I'm currently an IT manager in the UK for a large real estate consultancy. Looking at your C.V. I would presume you'd be after a 2nd and 3rd line job in the first instance just to build your ozzy work experience up. The average salary you should expect would be around the $50k - $60k or approx $25 - $30/hour on contract work. If you look at job sites (gurus.com.au, seek.com.au, etc) and search the different areas you'll find that Sydney has alot more to offer for IT than brisbane, but thats not to say that Brisbane doesn't have alot of IT job offers. You'll find the difference between Sydney and other cities in NSW and QLD is very much like the difference London and Birmingham or London and Manchester. Jobs are of a premium in Sydney, but the cost of living in Sydney is reflected by this increased salary. I can't comment on other parts of Aus as I've not investigated them in much detail, so hopefully someone can fill in that gap. But I'd say, try Gold Coast and commute to Brissie, some really nice beaches down the Gold Coast as well as surfers paradise and some great surf up and down the GC. Feel free to contact me if you want more info. Alan
